<설명에 들어가기전에>
본 코너에서 추천음반을 소개하다보니, 본의 아니게(?) 자꾸 Trance음반을 소개하게 되는 경우가
많은 것 같은데...... 굳이 설명을 하자면, 이는 우연일뿐 Club Joker Red가 Trance 전문
Club이라든가, Joker에서 플레이되는 음악이 Trance만 나온다든가 등의 오해는 갖지 않아주셨으면
합니다. Joker Red는 Techno, House, Trance, Breakbeat 그리고 Drum & Bass, Downtempo까지
포괄하는 다양한 음악을 들려드리고 있습니다.
<설명들어갑니다>
하나의 댄스 컴필레이션 음반에 상업적으로 성공을 거둔 트랙들과 음악적으로 인정을 받는
곡들을 동시에 담아내는 것은 쉬운 일은 아니다.
그럼에도 불구하고 본 "Slinky : Tech-nique" 음반은 이점에서 다소간 인정받을 만하다.
지난해, 영국에서 Slinky club nights의 인기는 계속 승승장구, 매주말이면 수천명의
clubber들이 몰려들 정도가 되었다.
이 음반의 첫번째 디스크에는 최근 챠트에서 좋은 성적을 거두고 있는 인기 Trance 히트곡들이
주류를 이룬다. Barbers의 "Adagio For Strings", Mr Mario Piu의 "Communication",
(Judge Jules가 좋아하는 음악인) Pitchin의 "Highgate", Paul Van Dyk의 "Another Way",
Star Party의 곡을 Ferry Corsten이 리믹스한 "I’m In Love", 그리고 최근 Sasha니
Pete Tong이니 Judge Jules등 쟁쟁한 DJ들의 서포트를 받고 있는 Sander Kleinberg의
"Sacred" 등이 수록되어 있다.
두번째 디스크에는 현 Trance 씬에서 가장 인정받는다고 일컬어질 수 있는 뮤지션/아티스트들의
Trance 작품들 위주로 구성되어 있다. Stef Paco & Frederick, BT, Bedrock, Funk Function,
Breeder 그리고 Blue Fish 등의 트랙들이 실려 있으며, 이외 나머지도 영국 클럽가에서 많이
플레이되는 음악들이다. 또한, 트랜스의 제왕(!) BT와 Paul Van Dyk의 공동 작품인 "Namistai"
도 실려 있는데, 이 음악은 영국 클럽들에서 폭풍같은 인기를 모았고 현재 웬만한 Trance DJ들의
playlist에 빠짐없이 들어가 있다고 한다.

지난해 초반 Additive 컴필레이션이 발매된후, Additive 레이블은 일사천리의 성장기로에 있다.
Additive 레이블에서 일하는 이들은 트랜스(trance) 열풍의 주역에 든다고 할 수 있으며, 그 이후 계속해서
베스트 트랙들을 내놓았고, 결과적으로 Additive는 트랜스를 신봉하는 베스트 레이블의 하나가
되어왔다.
이 음반에는 Der Dritte Raum’의 “Hale Bopp”Jackdaw 리믹스버젼, Fragma'의 epic floor pounder,
"Toca Me", Velvet Girl의 "Velvet", 최근에 Positiva 레이블을 통해 재발매된 Aurora의
"Hear You Calling"을 비롯하여 BBE의 클래식, "Seven days In One Week" Moguai remix 버젼등이 담겨있다.
결국, Additive volume 3음반은 Gatecrasher/ Ministry 의 팬들이라면 꼭 소장해야할 음반이 아닐까 생각한다.

이 음반에 대해 별로 길게 설명하고 싶지 않다.
"Y3K Deep Progressive Beats" 음반은 괜찮은 일렉트로 컴필레이션 음반이다.
온갖 생동감과 에너지로 가득차 있으며, 거기다 그 자극적인(?) 베이스라인들까지...
이 음반의 라인업을 보자면, 소위 "new skool break artists"라 일컬어지는 아티스트들,
Way Out West로부터 BT, Hybrid, Rennie Pilgrim, The Light, Shut Up And Dance까지
모든 이들을 포괄하고 있다.
한마디로, 일렉트로니카를 추종하는 이들에게는 꿈의 음반이라고 말할 수 있을 것이다.
