Cream Anthems 2000
* Cream : 영국 Liverpool 소재의 명성높은 클럽
여기 소개되는 음반은 올해 영국 챠트에서뿐 아니라 영국 클럽가에서도 대히트를 이룬
House & Trance 곡들로 구성된 Cream 주제곡(?) 앨범이다. 이미 꽤 오랜 시간동안 Cream은
영국 클럽씬에서 주도적인 역할을 해왔으며, 최근까지 그 명성과 인기도는 계속 높아만 가고 있다.
“Cream Anthems 2000”은 Cream이 대규모로 추진 중인 신년 이벤트와 관련이 깊은데 이 행사는
London, Liverpool, Manchester 그리고 Newcastle에서 진행중이다.
이 행사들에 참여하는 군중수는 3만명 이상이 될 것으로 예상되는데 2000년의 시작을 기리는데
앨범을 제작하고 파티를 개최하는 것은 너무도 당연한 발상으로 보인다.
첫번째 디스크는 Bedrock의 "Heaven Scent"로 그 서막을 연다.
(이런 놀라운 음악을 만들다니... John Digweed와 Nick Muir는 정말 가슴 뿌듯해 할 만 하다.)
그 후속곡은 Solar stone의 “Seven Cities"로 그 사운딩 샘플링은 이 음악의 감칠 맛을 더해
주는요소이다. 그 뒤를 이어 Liquid Child의 “Diving Faces”, Alice Deejay의 새로운 트랙
"Back In My Life" , 그리고 “Another Day”Perfecto 리믹스 버젼으로 전개된다. 계속 전개되어
나오는 곡들이 Paul Van Dyk의 “Avenue”, DJ Alici의 “Ankhesenamun”, Underworld의 “Jumbo”
정도면 이 디스크가 어떠한지 대충 감이 오지 않는가 !
두번째 디스크는 전체적으로 House가 주류를 이룬다. (뒷부분에 Trance가 약간 가미되어 있긴 하지만)
대표적인 수록곡에는 “Sing It Back”,Basement Jaxx의 “Rendez-Vu”, Brother Brown의 “Under
The Water”, Paul Johnson의 “Get Get Down”등이다. 이 모든 곡들이 전부 훌륭한 곡들이긴하지만
그렇다고 그게 전부라고 생각하면 큰 오산 ! Chemical Brother의 작품 “Out of Control”을
Sasha가 리믹스한 버젼, Stoneproof의 single “She Does”(Quiver리믹스버젼), Lustral의
“ Everytime”(Way Out West mix), 그리고 이 모든 곡들을 마무리하는 Orbital의 고전
“Chime"이 계속 이어진다.

Euphoria: Level 3 mixed by PF Project
유포리아 레벨 3 (PF Project 믹스 앨범)
항상 그 신망도 높은 선곡으로 인정을 받아 온 Euphoria시리즈의 3번째 edition인
Euphoria Level 3는 Euphoria시리즈에 새로운 스탠더드를 보여주고 있으며 거의 고전적(!)이었다고
여겨지고 있는 첫번째 edition보다 더 뛰어나다는 평을 듣는 작품이다.
첫번째 CD는 훌륭한 trance 트랙 선곡이 돋보인다. 물론 Alice Deejay나 Airscape의 곡 등은
다소 심심하긴 하지만, 그래도 Leftfield의 고전인 “Open Up”, Mansun의 “Wide
Open Space”, Space Manoeuvres의 “Stage One", Faithless의 “Drifting Away" 등으로
앨범 전체적으로 음악적인 격과 대중적인 맛을 모두 즐길 수 있게 한다.
두번째 CD 역시 첫번째 CD 못지않은 음반으로 좀더 up-tempo이면서도 역시 깊이감을 잃지 않고
있다. Fiji의 “Atlantis”, BT와 PVD의 공동작 “Namistai”, Tilt의 " I Dream”, Chicane의
다소 편안한 트랙 “ Lost You Somewhere”등이 수록되어 있다.
이 Euphoria Level 3 앨범은 아주 이상적인 파티용 음반이면서 동시에, 현재 베스트 트랜스곡들을
담고 있는 작품으로 Gatecrasher나 Ministry Of Sound에서 발매되는 시리즈에 견줄만하다고 할 수 있다.
